Ceramic Coated Stainless Steel Rods

NCT manufactures plasma sprayed ceramic coated rods for the pulp and paper industry. These rods combine the structural strength and corrosion resistance of Type 316 stainless steel with the exceptional wear resistance of diamond ground and polished chromium oxide (ceramic) coating. NCT's ceramic coated rods far outlast those made from other materials such as uncoated or chromed stainless steel and ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE).

NCT's ceramic coated rods have several applications:

•Uhle Box Rods- These rods are used as wear resistant components in the dewatering              . zone of paper machines.

•Foil Inserts- Short rods are inserted at wear points in UHMWPE foils to significantly     improve their life.

•Coating Rods-These rods are used to apply abrasive coating materials to finished paper .         products ranging from linerboard to fine glossy paper.  The extremely hard  smooth surface resists scratching far longer than alternatives and minimizes the occurrence of flaws in the surface finish of the paper.

NCT's ceramic coated rods are produced in finished  diameters from 7 to 26 mm (0.275 in to 1.025 in), lengths from 250 mm to 10m (10 in to 400 in) and surface finishes as smooth as 0.15 to 0.2µm  (6 to 8µin) Ra. These rods have many different types of ends, including straight cut, threaded, slotted, uncoated, etc. The larger diameter Uhle box rods are drilled and tapped at specified intervals along their entire length.

NCT's rods are supplied exclusively through authorized distributors in Canada and the USA. Contact NCT directly for further information.
